Quick answer

A move from Germany to a neighbouring country costs about €1,350 to €3,400 for a studio to a two-bed flat. Long routes such as Germany to Spain or Portugal cost about €2,350 to €6,250.

Volume, road distance and tolls make up most of the price. Access at both addresses, the date and extras such as packing or a furniture lift decide the rest. All prices include VAT.

What drives the price

Four things decide what your move costs

The calculator works like a moving company's quote. Read the full method.

Volume

Your cubic metres decide the vehicle: a 3.5 t van, a 7.5 t truck or an 18 t truck, and how many movers you need.

Route and tolls

The road distance for a truck, driving time and the real toll costs on that route, plus ferries where needed.

Crew time

Hours for loading and unloading with the crew size your volume needs, at both addresses.

VAT

The VAT that applies to your route is already included, so there are no surprises later.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a move in Europe cost?

A move from Germany to a neighbouring country such as the Netherlands, Poland or France costs about €1,350 to €3,400 for a studio to a two-bed flat. Long routes to Spain or Portugal cost about €2,350 to €6,250. Your price depends on volume, road distance, tolls, access and date.

How accurate is the moving calculator?

The calculator uses the same inputs a moving company uses for a quote: the truck road route with real tolls, the vehicle needed for your volume, the crew and the hours for loading and unloading. It assumes ordinary access. The fixed-price quote then adds details such as floors, lifts, packing and special items.

Is the estimate binding?

No. The calculator shows a non-binding price range. If you want to book, request a fixed-price quote: your addresses are filled in, and you get a binding price after a short review of your move.

Which countries does the calculator cover?

All EU countries, Switzerland and the United Kingdom, for moves within a country and between countries.

How do I know how many cubic metres I am moving?

As a rule of thumb, plan about 5 m³ per furnished room plus kitchen and cellar: a studio is about 10 m³, a one-bed flat 15 m³, a two- to three-bed flat 25 m³ and a house 50 m³. The volume guide lists typical furniture sizes.

Is VAT included?

Yes. Prices include the VAT that applies to your route. The calculator applies the rate that fits your route, for example no VAT on exports to Switzerland or the UK.

Can AI assistants use the calculator?

Yes. Assistants such as ChatGPT or Claude can query live prices through our public MCP server and JSON API. See the page for AI and developers.
